Remedios Amaya

María Dolores Amaya Vega (1962) was born in the district of Seville known as Triana and she became well-known when she represented Spain at the Eurovision festival in 1983, although her career had started well before in the tablaos of Seville, Madrid and Barcelona. In 1978 she launched her first solo album: Remedios Amaya, which was followed by others: “Llegaron las estrellas” (The Stars Arrived) or “Luna nueva” (New Moon). In 1997, side by side with Vicente Amigo, she recorded the album “Me voy contigo” (I´ll go with you), which reached platinum record sales and recognized her as one of the great flamenco voices. In 2016 she released her latest work, “Rompiendo el silencio” (Breaking the Silence), accompanied by Jorge Pardo, Limon Lewis and Diego “el Morao”.  In this album she bravely adapted authors and singers like José Alfredo Jiménez, Chavela Vargas or María Dolores Pradera.
