"(Mestizo and frontiersman)"
Since his early days, Pitingo (Ayamonte (Huelva), 1980) stands out as an artist able to create a dialogue between genres, to bring different traditions close together and to blend musical sensitivities to create a very personal, inclusive and unbiased speech. With two flamenco sagas in his DNA, the Valencia´s and the Carpio´s, he finds amazing meeting points like the “souleria”, a sound that draws from several sources such Afro-American soul and flamenco buleria.
As a result of this interculturality that takes sides with social harmony and connects sounds and traditions, Pitingo presents in Flamenco on Fire 2020 “Mestizo y fronterizo”, a show that drinks from wells that echo from the African diaspora while crossing over into the songs of the gipsy prison wardens from Cadiz and the flamenco beat understood as a universal music without chains or bonds.
