María José Llergo
The flamenco of María José Llergo (Pozoblanco, 1994) is seasoned with all kinds of sounds, but it boasts roots: Arabic and deep, luminous and dark, always plagued by beautiful melismas that return to the past in order to project themselves into the present. ‘Niña de las dunas’, her first track, totally ‘do it yourself’, together with the flamenco guitarist Marc López, surprised fans and onlookers, like the album on which it is included and which she now presents to us: ‘Sanación’. The song ‘Quema’, shared with the rapper Juancho Marqués, ‘Me miras pero no me ves’, written by Llergo with a strong social commitment and co-produced by the Sevillian Lost Twin, ‘La luz’, recorded in the Colors studio, and the early ‘Nana del Mediterráneo’ are her first hits, as her career has only just begun.
Demoscopic artist of the music magazine MondoSonoro and a figure in the Primavera Sound in Barcelona, she comes to Pamplona to show her new flamenco look “Sanación”. She says that she thinks of her grandparents when she sings because they showed her so much; that she listens to the soul and filters it through her sweetest faculties, through music she finds her own particular space for expression. Thousands of listeners, through digital platforms, singles and live performances, have already come to know her.
