José Mercé et Manuel Cerpa
He has triumphed on countless occasions and hopes to do so once again from the balcony of Pamplona City Hall, where he has never sung. José Mercé is the best-selling flamenco artist in history. He trained in Jerez de la Frontera, where he was born and took his first steps, and later in Madrid, where he ended up at the home of his uncle, the cantaor Manuel Soto Sordera, and where he became known in the tablaos. He toured the world accompanying dancers of the stature of Antonio Gades, and then came his solo hits: ‘Del amanecer’, ‘Aire’, ‘Confí de fuá’ and his most recent ‘El oripandó’, among other works.
For the occasion, the most popular of all the cantaores will perform alongside a promising guitarist: Manuel Cerpa, a young man with whom he has collaborated on the fandangos ‘Chipiona’.
