Javier Ruibal

Born in Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz) in 1955, Javier Ruibal brings together all the different types of music that have crystallized in Andalusia. Self-taught, in his compositions there are echoes of jazz and rock, but also flamenco or Sephardic music. He has created songs for artists such as Ana Belén, Javier Krahe, Martirio, Pasión Vega or Mónica Molina. Author of the collection of poems “Corazón de barro”, (Mud Heart) he unites the sensitivity of the Generation of 27 with the breath of creativity of the Cadiz air in his records. His contribution to music has earned him, among other awards, the Medal of Arts of Andalusia, and the Goya for the best original song 2020 by “Intemperie” (Outdoors), for the homonymous film by Benito Zambrano,

In this edition of Flamenco On Fire he will present “Ruibal”, an album accompanied by unpublished stories that bring together many of his passions: poetry, his search for beauty and the heterodoxy of an artist who is inspired by his musical tradition to create a personal universe.
