"La Confluencia"

The company Estévez y Paños, since it began in 2003, has been driving at the forefront of some of the most notable productions in flamenco dance. Dancers and choreographers, Rafael Estévez (Huelva, 1979) and Valeriano Paños (Barcelona, 1976) have shared the bill with the leading figures of their generation, from Miguel Poveda to Rocío Molina, Olga Pericet, Manuel Liñán and Patricia Guerrero, whom they have directed in their shows, and presented on the most important stages all over the world: New York, London, Montreal, and Paris. They also participated with Carlos Saura in the film ‘Flamenco flamenco’.

The production ‘La consagración’ won the Giraldillo for Best Choreography at the 2016 Seville Flamenco Biennial. In 2019, they won the National Dance Prize in the category of creation, awarded by the Ministry of Culture. They directed the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía for three years, enough time to create works such as ‘Flamencolorquiano’ and ‘Aquel Silverio’, where they showed a deep knowledge of flamenco singing as a source of movement. They are, above all, creators devoted to subtlety.

La confluencia, which has its starting point in the artistic residencies of the Teatro del Canal, in Madrid, has as its main objective the choreographic, musical and scenic elaboration from a current language that is nourished by the past and also by the contemporary arts. The title, therefore, refers to aesthetics and times, where everything converges without being confused.
