Carlos Martín Ballester
Writer, producer, researcher and specialist in sound heritage, Carlos Martín Ballester owns the largest music archive in Spain for the period 1890-1960, and the most important collection of recordings and Spanish recordings with political, cultural, and scientific content. Since 2000 he manages carlosmb 78 rpm records & cylinders, a company devoted to the sale of 78 rpm records and phonograph cylinders. He also runs the Carlos Martín Ballester Collection of audiobooks, the blog “El Arqueólogo Musical” (the Music Archaeologist) and he is founder and president of Círculo Flamenco of Madrid.
At Flamenco on Fire, Carlos Martín Ballester will deliver his speech “El genio tocaor de Sabicas (a 78 rpm)” (The brilliant playing style of Sabicas -at 78 rpm-) in which he will do a sound tour un to some of Sabica’s recordings at 78 rpm accompanying several singers of the 1930’s (El Carbonerillo, Juanito Valderrama, Niña de La Puebla, etc.), with comments and image showing.
